We don’t want cost to keep you from dancing.
This policy is intended for current Members with an income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Line.
Note: Student-Members are already receiving discounts on membership and most/all admission costs, and are therefore not eligible for this policy.
Members who apply will receive:
- 20 Swingbucks up-front and yearly
- 5 Swingbucks per 15 minutes volunteered (up from the typical 3)
The initial Swingbucks will get you into a couple of dances so you can start volunteering, and the increased compensation for volunteering will make it easier for you to earn admission to future dances.
For example, weekly dance admission is $7 for members. So if you volunteer for 30 minutes at a weekly dance, you get 10 Swingbucks (up from typical 6) which is more than enough to cover your admission to the next week’s dance.
Members may apply once per year (receiving the 20 Swingbucks each time they apply). If it has been at least a year since you last applied, feel free to apply again. Otherwise, at most yearly, a member of the Board may reach out to Members currently benefiting from this policy and ask them to re-certify that they meet the criteria. If they do, they will receive the 20 Swingbuck yearly deposit. If they do not, their volunteering compensation will return to the typical Members rate.
